How to Determine a Fuel Surcharge

To determine a company’s fuel surcharge rate you will first need to know how to find current U.S. On-Highway Diesel Fuel Prices which can be looked upon the U.S. Energy Information Administration website (eia), or you can call their 24-hour hotline at (202) 586-6966. You will find gasoline and diesel fuel prices on the website that are updated once a week on Monday after 2 pm unless there is a federal holiday in which case they will be published on Tuesday after 2 pm. You will want to go down to the second box and it will show current diesel fuel pricing and pricing for the last two weeks. Most companies use the row for pricing averaged across the United States but there are also rows of regions in the U.S.  View the entire article here.
