Many have been scratching their heads asking, why are we seeing record-breaking capacity issues and skyrocketing freight rates during the past few months?

It’s all supply and demand. And, supply is far shorter than demand right now. The nationwide over the road driver shortage has been a long-term growing issue and COVID is causing a multitude of side effects. There is no sole driving force so, in an effort to wrap our heads around the issue, we will touch base on a handful of factors.

Some of these bullets provided were taken from articles referenced below however it’s important to note that most seem to understate the high freight rates we’ve been seeing. This may be due, in part, to companies like the Allen Lund Company that are doing their best to insulate their customers from these issues and to meet and exceed commitments made prior to these extraordinary times.
