Yet every year, almost a third of all food produced for human consumption goes to waste because of an issue that occurred somewhere within the supply chain. When dealing with perishables, there are so many factors that can cause rejected product, like improper storage, mishandling, quality, infestation or contamination, which ends up costing the industry well over $160 billion a year on average.
